Glucagon Stimulation Test


General
  Clinical Use: Glucagon stimulates the release of GH and ACTH from the pituitary gland. In this test, glucagon is administered and the response of cortisol and GH in peripheral blood is measured. It is considered to be safer than insulin stimulation of pituitary function, especially in young children and infants.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.

  Container: Lithium Heparin-PST (GREEN),   and,   Fluoride Oxalate (GREY),  
  Sample Type: 1 x GREEN & 1 x GREY to be collected at every time point
  Minimum Collection Volume:
  Collection Instructions: Samples are collected at each time point for the duration of the test.
