Catecholamines (Urine)


General
  Clinical Use: To assist in diagnosis and monitoring of paediatric paragangliomas and neuroblastomas.
This test is performed on paediatric patients only (Age <16 years).
24hr Urine for Metenephrines should be collected for adults 16 years and older.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

Collection Requirements
  Container: Urine Container (URINE),  
  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume:
  Collection Instructions: Morning spot urine sample preferred.
Sample must be acidified to pH 2.0-4.0 ASAP but within 2 hours of collection using a small amount of sulphamic acid.

Aliquot sample into urine tube.
  Minimum Assay Volume: 4mL
  Stability: 4 weeks chilled
  Transport Instructions (to testing laboratory): Send sample chilled.
