Lactate/Pyruvate


General
  Clinical Use: The measurement of blood lactate reflects pyruvate metabolism. Blood lactate is measured in conjunction with blood pyruvate.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.
This test may be eligible for Rule 3 exemption if indicated.

Collection Requirements
  Container: Pyruvate Tube (PYRUV),  
  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume: 0.5mL
  Collection Instructions: Collection containers are provided by QEII CSRA.
Do not use vacutainer for collection and minimise use of tourniquet.
Fill tube to marked line (0.5mL), and mix well by inversion until sample turns brown.
Freeze whole sample immediately following collection.
