Assessment of Glucose status. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body. Used in diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus.

Availability:

Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
This test may be eligible for Rule 3 exemption if indicated.

Non-pregnant, fasting     3.0-5.4 mmol/L
Pregnancy, fasting        3.0-5.2 mmol/L

A fasting glucose of >=7.0 mmol/L is suggestive of Diabetes Mellitus.

In pregnancy, a fasting glucose of 5.3 - 6.9 mmol/L is consistent with gestational diabetes mellitus and fasting glucose >=7.0 mmol/L is consistent with overt diabetes in pregnancy. (ADIPS 2025)
