Periodic Fevers Syndrome Panel


General
  Clinical Use: Genotyping for Periodic Fevers Syndrome Panel now includes susceptibility for Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF),TRAPS,HIDS,CAPS,MWS, and PAPA. Periodic Fever Syndromes (PFS) are a large sub-family of auto-inflammatory disorders, characterised by intermittent, recurrent and unprovoked fever episodes lasting from a few days to weeks. PFS usually present symptoms at a young age with cycles of fever, that often persist for years. Other symptoms may include rashes, arthralgia, myalgia and gastrointestinal complications.
Please note: At the current point in time this test is not actually being performed at PathWest Laboratory Medicine, due to an issue with reagents. The test is currently being sent away to Blueprint Genetics (Finland) for genetic testing - this will require the requesting physician to also provide a Blueprint Genetics requisition and signed consent form.
  Availability: Samples are batched and tested once a month.
