This test is a comprehensive profile that provides information regarding mitochondrial and peroxisomal fatty acid metabolism, and the patient's nutritional status. It is useful for monitoring patients undergoing diet therapy for mitochondrial and peroxisomal disorders and for monitoring the response to provocation tests. |

Adults: 12-14 hour fast /
Paediatric: 4 hour fast
Alcohol must not be consumed 24 hours prior to collection.
If sample will not reach laboratory within 2 hours of collection, it must be centrifuged, separated and frozen.
Non-medicare rebateable item. All patients except Public, VA and Pensioners must pay $200.00 upfront. |
