Test Entry - Detail

CA125

General
Clinical Use: CA125 is identified as a 200 to 1000 kDa mucin-like glycoprotein and is a surface antigen associated with non-mucinous epithelial ovarian cancer. It is a useful tumour marker for evaluating therapy and monitoring disease status in patients under treatment for ovarian cancer. Post operatively the level of CA125 correlates with tumour bulk and is a prognostic indicator of clinical outcome. It has been reported that patients with levels exceeding 35 kU/L have the highest risk of clinical recurrence.
