C1 Esterase Inhibitor


General
  Clinical Use: C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency may be associated with hereditary angioedema.
Sera are first tested for Complement C4; if this is <0.24g/L then a C1 esterase inhibitor quantitative level (C1ES) measuring the amount of C1 esterase inhibitor present and functional activity (C1FUN) are measured.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.

Collection Requirements

  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume: 1ml
  Collection Instructions: If samples will not reach laboratory within 1 hour of collection, 1 x GOLD must be centrifuged, separated and frozen into 2 aliquots.

  Processing Instructions: Centrifuge, separate and freeze 1 x GOLD into 2 aliquots.
  Minimum Assay Volume: 400uL
  Stability: 1 hour chilled
