Calcium (Ionised)


General
  Clinical Use: In some patients, the balance between bound and free calcium is disturbed and total calcium is not a good reflection of calcium status. In those circumstances, measurement of ionised calcium is necessary.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.

  Container: Serum Sep. Tube-SST (GOLD),  
  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume: 400uL
  Collection Instructions: Sample should ideally be collected without the use of a tourniquet.

  Processing Instructions: SST sample must remain unopened before testing.
Regional Services: Sample should be packed separately from other SST's.
For regional locations requiring urgent results, Ionised Calcium is included in the VBG POCT.
