Faecal Calprotectin may be either a non-Medicare rebateable item or may be covered by Medicare for some patients.
Medicare does not reimburse patients of 50 years of age or older, nor patients of any age who have a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease, Ulcerative colitis, or IBD.
Bulk Billed patients in the above category may receive a bill of $75 from PathWest for this testing.
PathWest collection staff should not collect any money for this test but instead should alert the patient to the billing information above. |
