Urine Cytology


General
  Clinical Use: For the diagnosis of transitional/urothelial malignancy and some infections (eg. polyoma virus effect; candida/fungal infection).
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

Collection Requirements
  Container: Urine Container (URINE),  
  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume: Forward as much fluid as possible to cytology
  Collection Instructions: Three second morning urine samples collected over three consecutive days is preferred.
If delivery of sample will be delayed >12 hours, an equal volume of 50% ethanol should be added to the sample.
Keep sample chilled prior to transport.
