Bone Marrow Trephine (Histopathology)


General
  Clinical Use: Used in the diagnosis of myeloproliferative disorders, including leukaemias, lymphoma staging, and multiple myeloma. For the assessment of haematological abnormalities, such as pancytopoenia. Used in the diagnosis of metastatic malignancy.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

  Container: Sterile Container (STERILE),  
  Sample Type: Bone Marrow Biopsy
  Minimum Collection Volume: N/A
  Collection Instructions: Collect sample using Jamshidi or Islam Trephine needle.
QEII: Biopsy jar containing formal sublimate preferable. If unavailable, use Buffered Neutral Formalin.
FSH: Biopsy jar containing formal sublimate.
Ensure Trephine sample is packed in a separate bag to any aspirate or smear specimens.
