Test Entry - Detail

Fructosamine

General
Clinical Use: Fructosamine is the generic name for plasma protein ketoamines. Fructosamine is an indicator of glycaemic control over a 2-3 week period. Glycated haemoglobin reflects diabetic control over 4-6 weeks. However, the effects of protein concentration, other diseases, biological variability and analytical specificity have led to difficulty in interpretation of fructosamine levels.
Availability: Samples are batched and tested twice a week.
