Human Platelet Antigen Genotyping
General
| |
Clinical Use:
These PCRs are used to determine the platelet antigen genotype and are especially useful to test platelet antigen incompatibility between a mother and child to determine the cause of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT). Human platelet antigens (HPA) 1,2,3,5 and 15 are tested for.
Note, there may be cases of phenotype/genotype discrepancies (altered protein expression) which could affect which antibody is predicted to be produced. |
