M. pneumoniae / C. pneumoniae PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Multiplex assay for the co-detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydophila pneumoniae.
Upper and lower respiratory tract specimens are suitable (e.g. nose/throat swab, nasopharyngeal swab, sputum, BAL). Testing of other specimen types requires discussion with a Clinical Microbiologist.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.

  Container: Sterile PCR Container (STERIPCR),  
  Sample Type: Throat Swab; Nasopharyngeal Swab; Nasopharyngeal Aspirate; Sputum; BAL; Endotracheal Aspirate; Pleural Fluid
  Minimum Collection Volume:
  Collection Instructions: Swabs in charcoal or other bacterial transport medium are not suitable for PCR testing.
