Dengue virus PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Confirmatory diagnostic testing for dengue virus infection.
Serology is the recommended primary test for diagnosis of dengue. PCR is performed on serum when dengue NS1 antigen is positive, for surveillance purposes. Testing of other specimen types or in other clinical scenarios requires discussion with a Clinical Microbiologist.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.
