Entamoeba histolytica Serology
General
| |
Clinical Use:
Adjunctive diagnostic testing for invasive Entamoeba histolytica infection (invasive amoebiasis).
An enzyme immunoassasy (EIA), detecting IgG antibodies to E.histolytica, is performed. If positive, the EIA suggests invasive amoebiasis if there is supportive clinical information.
Positive Entamoebae serology may also be seen in patients with past disease or from endemic areas. |
