Clinical Use:
|
Detection of enteroviruses, including Coxsackieviruses, echoviruses, and numbered enteroviruses (e.g. EV71, D68).
Suitable specimen types are upper respiratory tract specimens (e.g. throat swab, nasopharyngeal swab), rectal swabs, vesicle swabs, eye swabs, pericardial fluid and CSF. Paired throat and rectal swabs are recommended for detection of enterovirus in infants. |

Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab. |
