EBV Quantitative PCR


General
  Clinical Use: For the detection and quantitation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA for monitoring of immunocompromised patients.

For diagnosis of acute EBV infection in other patient groups, see separate entry for EBV Serology.
  Availability: Samples are batched and tested 3 times a week.
Please contact testing laboratory for urgent requests.

The result will be reported in International Units/mL of plasma. Reportable range: 35 IU/mL to 1.00 x 10^8 IU/mL

  Minimum Collection Volume: 1mL
  Collection Instructions: Dedicated sample required.
If sample will not reach laboratory within 24 hours of collection, it must be centrifuged and separated.
