Hepatitis A PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Confirmatory diagnostic testing for hepatitis A. For routine diagnosis, hepatitis A serology is recommended.
Hepatitis A PCR is performed when hepatitis A IgM is positive, to confirm recent infection. Testing on faeces may also be performed to confirm recent infection in patients with a positive IgM.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.
