Herpes simplex Virus Serology


General
  Clinical Use: Screening and adjunctive diagnostic testing for herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 (HSV1 and HSV2). HSV1 IgG and HSV2 IgG are performed on all requests. HSV IgM testing is not recommended due to risk of false-positive and false-negative results. For laboratory diagnosis of primary HSV infection or reactivation, a dry swab of a lesion should be submitted for HSV PCR testing.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.
