Human Immunodeficiency Virus Serology


General
  Clinical Use: Screening and diagnostic testing for human immunodeficiency virus 1 and 2 (HIV-1/HIV-2).
Specimens are screened with an HIV-1/HIV-2 antigen/antibody immunoassay. Specimens reactive in this assay will have supplementary testing by HIV-1/HIV-2 Qualitative NAT. Specimens negative by NAT will have supplemental HIV-1/HIV-2 antibody testing.
  Availability: QEII: Samples are tested Monday-Saturday.
FSH: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.
Results are usually available within 24-48h of receipt by the testing laboratory.
Please contact testing laboratory for urgent requests.
