Respiratory Virus PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Multiplex assay for the co-detection of common respiratory viruses, including influenza A, influenza B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, rhinovirus and human metapneumovirus (hMPV).
Rapid testing for influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory pathogens is available at some hospitals.
  Availability: Results are usually available within 24-48h of receipt by the testing laboratory.

  Sample Type: Flocked Nose/Throat Swab; Flocked Nasopharyngeal Swab; Nasopharyngeal Aspirate; Sputum; BAL; Bronchial Washing; Endotracheal Aspirate
  Minimum Collection Volume: N/A
  Collection Instructions: Either a single nasopharyngeal swab or dual nose and throat swabs should be collected.
Indicate specimen type, any specific organism investigation required and any relevant clinical history on request form.
