Legionella pneumophila urinary antigen


General
  Clinical Use: Adjunctive diagnostic testing for Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 infection. Urine is tested for the presence of L. pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen. The test has estimated sensitivity/specificity of 95%/95%. Legionella PCR testing of lower respiratory tract specimens (e.g. sputum) is also recommended for diagnosis of acute Legionella infection, including Legionella longbeachae. Acute and convalescent Legionella serology is also recommended.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
