Clinical Use:
|
Diagnostic testing for leptospirosis. A quantitative Leptospira IgM enzyme immunoassay is performed. Acute and convalescent sera may be required to confirm recent infection by demonstrating a significant increase in IgM levels. When a single high titre is obtained, or a significant increase in titre is found, specimens are referred to Queensland Health for Leptospira MAT supplementary testing. Leptospira PCR testing on blood (EDTA) and urine is also recommended for diagnosis of acute infection. |
