Clinical Use:
|
Diagnostic and immunity testing for mumps. Mumps IgG testing is performed on all requests. Mumps IgM testing is performed if specifically requested or history suggests acute mumps infection. Specimens reactive on the mumps IgM enzyme immunoassay (EIA) will have supplementary testing performed by indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFA). Presence of mumps IgG suggests immunity to mumps from past infection or vaccination but may be detectable during acute infection. |
