Clinical Use:
|
Diagnostic serological testing for Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Mycoplasma pneumoniae quantitative IgG and qualitative IgM are performed on all requests. Acute and convalescent sera may be required to confirm recent infection by demonstrating IgG seroconversion or significant increase in IgG. Mycoplasma pneumoniae PCR testing of a respiratory tract specimen (e.g. throat swab, sputum) is recommended for diagnosis of acute Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. |
