Orf virus PCR


General
  Clinical Use: For laboratory diagnosis of orf virus infection, a zoonosis. The assay is expected to detect other parapoxviruses (e.g. pseudocowpox).
The recommended specimen is a dry swab of a lesion.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.

  Collection Instructions: Swabs in charcoal or other bacterial transport medium are not suitable for PCR testing.
