Alphavirus PCR


General
  Clinical Use: PCR testing for alphaviruses (e.g. Ross River virus, Barmah Forest virus, chikungunya virus) is of limited utility, and is not routinely performed.
Serology is the recommended primary diagnostic test for alphavirus infection. Contact a Clinical Microbiologist for further advice if required.

  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.
