Clinical Use:

Anterior chamber infections may be due to trauma or penetrating injuries. In endophthalmitis, inflammation extends into the vitreous humour and it is commonly of infectious origin. |

|
Samples of the anterior chamber are usually collected by needle aspiration of the fluid.
Vitreous Fluid can be collected by either needle aspiration or vitrectomy.
Indicate specimen type, any specific organism investigation required and any relevant clinical history on request form.
If sample will not reach laboratory within 1 hour of collection, it must be kept chilled. |
