  Clinical Use: Diagnosis of neoplasms, and some infections and reactive processes.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

Collection Requirements
  Container: Sterile Container (STERILE),  
  Sample Type: Fluid; Smears; Cell-Blocks
  Minimum Collection Volume:
  Collection Instructions: Obtaining satisfactory material for cytological assessment requires training, and generally FNA should be performed only by an experienced Cytopathologist or, in the case of deep aspirations, a Radiologist experienced in obtaining FNA samples. For queries on FNA sampling from regional and remote areas, please contact the testing laboratory.

  Processing Instructions: Please note: Slide carriers should be counted as ONE specimen only regardless of how many slides are received.
DO NOT OPEN the slide carrier under any circumstances as ID checks will be performed by the Cytology department.
