Clinical Use:
|
For confirmatory CSF testing in suspected progressive multifocal leucoencephalopathy (PML).
Testing may be performed on urine in suspected polyomavirus nephritis in immunocompromised patients when BK virus testing is negative. Testing of other specimen types or in other clinical scenarios requires discussion with a Clinical Microbiologist.
JC viral load testing is not performed at PathWest, but may be referred interstate in special clinical scenarios when on-site testing is positive. Contact a Clinical Microbiologist for advice if required. |

Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab. |
