Coronavirus PCR (non-SARS/non-MERS)


General
  Clinical Use: Diagnostic testing for endemic coronaviruses (HKU1, OC43, 229E, NL63), common causes of upper respiratory tract infection.
Upper respiratory tract specimens are suitable for testing (e.g. nose/throat swab, nasopharyngeal swab).

  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing lab.

  Container: Sterile PCR Container (STERIPCR),  
  Sample Type: Throat Swab; Nasopharyngeal Swab; Nasopharyngeal Aspirate; Sputum; BAL; Endotracheal Aspirate
  Minimum Collection Volume:
  Collection Instructions: Swabs in charcoal or other bacterial transport medium are not suitable for PCR testing.
