Thrombin Clotting Time


General
  Clinical Use: A TCT should be performed where there is unexplained prolongation of routine clotting tests (PT, aPTT). A prolonged TCT may indicate a dysfibrinogenaemia or hypofibrinogenaemia. TCT will also be prolonged in the presence of inhibitors such as heparin, hirudin, argatroban, d-dimers and paraproteins.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
