Gallstone


General
  Clinical Use: Gallstones are stone-like masses comprised mainly of cholesterol, calcium salts and bile pigments that form in the gallbladder. Acute/Chronic cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder) caused by a blockage of the gall bladder duct may lead to abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Biliary colic can result from the presence of a migrated gallstone in the cystic duct and causes severe pain. Blockage of the common bile duct by gallstones can lead to cholangitis or pancreatitis causing severe pain, fever and jaundice.
