Test Entry - Detail

Burkholderia pseudomallei Serology

General
Clinical Use: Adjunctive diagnostic testing for Burkholderia pseudomallei infection (Meliodosis). An indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA) is performed and reported as a titre. A positive titre suggests exposure to Burkholderia pseudomallei at some time. Acute and convalescent sera showing significant increase in IHA titre is required to demonstrate recent infection. Bacteriology is the preferred diagnostic modality for active infection.
