Test Entry - Detail
Chromium (Whole Blood)

General
Clinical Use: Chromium is an essential trace element reasonably abundant in the environment however it is present in relatively small concentration hence measurement can be difficult. It is used in a wide variety of industrial processes, for example chrome plating by electrolysis.
This test is for hip replacement patients only. In the case of metal on metal implants, wearing of the metal surfaces creates chromium nano and microparticles with both local and systemic effects.
