Test Entry - Detail
Cryofibrinogen

General
Clinical Use: Pathology in cryofibrinogenaemia is thought to be secondary to thrombotic occlusion of medium and small arteries with features of vasculitis, most commonly cutaneous ischaemia including purpura, livedo reticularis, ulceration and necrosis. Cryofibrinogens may be primary ('idiopathic') or more commonly secondary to underlying inflammatory condition such as infection, malignancy or connective tissue disease. Cryofibrinogens may occasionally be seen in normal healthy individuals, usually at low levels. Cryofibrinogens cannot be assesed without a corresponding Cryoglobulin (serum) sample.
