Lactate (Plasma)


General
  Clinical Use: To help detect hypoxia(oxygen deficiency) and other conditions that cause excess production or insufficient clearing of lactate from the blood eg acid/base imbalance or inherited metabolic disorder.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
If URGENT, please contact Biochemistry laboratory before collection - 'VLAC' can be analysed using onsite blood gas machine within 20 minutes of collection on unspun lithium heparin (DKGNLITH) or heparin blood gas syringe.
