A diagnosis of ACS requires a change in troponin, with at least one increased value in the setting of ischaemic
symptoms or ECG changes suggestive of ACS. Most healthy individuals have detectable troponin with this assay. Troponin may be increased by factors other than ACS, such as CHF, arrhythmias, renal failure,
pulmonary embolism and myocarditis.
