Schistosoma mansoni Serology


General
  Clinical Use: Screening and adjunctive testing for Schistosoma mansoni infection. A qualitative Schistosoma mansoni IgG enzyme immunoassay is performed. A positive result suggests recent or past S.mansoni infection. Examination of up to 3 faeces or urine samples for Schistosoma eggs is also recommended for the diagnosis of active schistosomiasis. Antibodies and eggs are usually detectable 6-12 weeks after acute infection.
  Availability: Samples are batched and tested once a week.
