PDGFRA Tissue Testing


General
  Clinical Use: Detection of somatic mutations in exons 12, 14 and 18 of the PDGFRA gene in gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) is used to select patients suitable (or unsuitable)for treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) drugs (eg imatinib, Gleevec).
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
