MPA AUC Study

General

Clinical Use:

PLEASE CONFIRM ON THE REQUEST FORM THAT AN AREA UNDER THE CURVE (AUC) IS REQUIRED. This is a test sometimes requested by nephrologists in renal transplant patients who are taking mycophenolate. The test will run over four hours.

Availability:

Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

Collection Instructions:

Contact testing laboratory prior to commencing test.
All four samples must be dedicated and individually numbered.
Record date, time and dosage of last dose on request form.
1. Collect first sample PRIOR to the patient taking their medication as a trough level. Label the tube as TROUGH and record the time of collection on tube and request form.
2. Patient then takes their medication. Record this time and dose on the request form.
3. Collect second sample ONE HOUR POST DOSE. Record time of collection on tube and request form.
4. Collect third sample TWO HOURS POST DOSE. Record time of collection on tube and request form.
5. Collect fourth sample FOUR HOURS POST DOSE. Record time of collection on tube and request form.
