Clinical Use:
|
Troponin is the primary diagnostic cardiac marker and can be used to investigate several heart disorders, including acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Vitros hs Troponin I assay is used at laboratories in Albany, Armadale, Broome, Bunbury, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Osborne Park and Rockingham.
Beckman Access 2 hs Troponin I assay is used at laboratories in Busselton, Carnarvon, Esperance, Kununurra, Northam and Port Hedland.

Females < 16 ng/L
An increase in Troponin I in the setting of ischaemic symptoms or ECG changes is suggestive of ACS.
Troponin I may be increased by factors other than ACS, such as CHF, arrhythmias, renal failure, pulmonary embolism and myocarditis.
