Donor Blood-Borne Virus NAT Screen (HIV/HBV/HCV)


General
  Clinical Use: Qualitative test used for organ and tissue donors ONLY to screen plasma or serum for HIV-1 Group M RNA, HIV-1 Group O RNA, HIV-2 RNA, HCV RNA and HBV DNA. Cannot be used to aid in diagnosis of HIV, HCV or HBV infections.
This is not a diagnostic test and is exclusively offered for organ donation programs such as DonateLife or Australian Kidney Exchange.
  Availability: As required Monday-Friday.
Urgent on call service offered Saturday, Sunday and public holidays with Clinical Microbiologist approval only. Approximate turnaround time is 4 hours once sample is received in the laboratory.

  Container: EDTA with gel-PPT (PEARL),  
  Sample Type:
  Minimum Collection Volume: 5mL (Living Donor); 1mL (Cadaveric Donor)
  Collection Instructions: Dedicated sample preferred.


Processing Requirements

  Processing Instructions: Centrifuge sample within 72 hours of collection.
Do not aliquot sample.
  Minimum Assay Volume: 1mL (Living Donor); 300uL (Cadaveric Donor)
  Stability: 7 days chilled
