Hepatitis C PCR


General
  Clinical Use: For the determination of current hepatitis C infection in patients with positive or indeterminate serology, in immunocompromised patients, and in patients with suspected acute hepatitis C prior to seroconversion. Serology is the recommended screening and diagnostic assay for hepatitis C.

Hepatitis C Quantitative PCR is used for the quantitation of hepatitis C RNA prior to antiviral treatment and for monitoring while on treatment. It will be performed when requested specifically.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.

Collection Requirements

  Minimum Collection Volume: 2mL
  Collection Instructions: Dedicated sample preferred.
If sample will not reach laboratory within 24 hours of collection, it must be centrifuged and separated. Please send original and aliquoted sample to testing laboratory.
