Histoplasma Serology


General
  Clinical Use: Adjunctive diagnostic testing for histoplasmosis, using a double immunodiffusion technique to detect antibodies to Histoplasma.
For diagnosis of histoplasmosis, fungal MC&S of body fluids/tissues is recommended. Contact a Clinical Microbiologist before submitting specimens for Histoplasma culture as these pose a risk to laboratory staff and require special handling.
  Availability: Testing is not available at PathWest but may be referred when clinically indicated.
