Clinical Use:
|
Adjunctive diagnostic testing for visceral leishmaniasis. When testing is indicated, specimens are referred to Pathology West in NSW, where a Leishmania antibody test is performed and reported as a titre. Serology is not recommended for the diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis. For microbiological diagnosis of cutaneous or visceral leishmaniasis, Leishmania PCR testing on tissue (e.g. skin biopsy, spleen biopsy) or body fluids (e.g. blood) is recommended. |
