Insulin Resistance


General
  Clinical Use: Clinical signs of insulin resistance include acanthosis nigricans, skin tags, central obesity, hirsutism. There is no role for routinely testing insulin levels to assess insulin resistance in IGT, IFG or in the evaluation of type 2 diabetes. Patients with signs of insulin resistance should be screened for diabetes with FBG or HbA1c.
