Mycoplasma hominis PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Diagnostic testing for extragenital M. hominis infection in sterile sites, e.g. blood, joint fluid. Testing can also be performed on bronchoalveolar lavages from lung transplant donors/recipients. Other requests must be discussed with a Clinical Microbiologist.
M. hominis PCR is not performed on urogenital specimens. Culture should be performed instead.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Saturday, with results usually available within 48-72h of receipt by the testing laboratory.
